I feel that the young man aspiring for a Government job must prepare himself for a negative result also.He may do very well, but there is always that unknown factor standing in the way.It will be great indeed if a young man gets everything according to his merit. But, things sometimes may happen differently and there is some disappointment lurking in some corner.

Ronak44522 . Preparation for IAS requires combination of smartness and hard work. Do the right things to gain an edge over your competition:
*Get the right books for Prelims
*Start preparing at least 10 months before
*Solve past year questions to test yourself on regular basis
    *Cover the scoring sections early
*Cover the syllabus strategically. Don't go for a "prepare all" approach for IAS prelims
    *Balance paper 1 and 2

Ronak44522 In order to be successful, a candidate firstly has to make a right concept in mind about this exam. Success is not very far if preparation is done on a regular basis. Structurally preparing for every stage brings the candidate to some milestone in the first attempt itself (or even may go through).
Provided that the new pattern of the IAS exam is likely to give importance to younger candidates with sharp and agile mind and dedication as the aptitude factor is the sole criteria now to judge candidates in the prelims exam.

If an Engineer has a target of getting into a Governement job then he/she should first of all plan that quite early i.e. during his engineering college days itself. The reason for this is to prepare mentally for such jobs. Private sector jobs require different mental attitide. Once it is decided that the preference would be given to Govt sector jobs then the engineer should evaluate the best qualification level suited for the job in his/her branch. If this requires being M.Tech / ME / PhD / MBA then so be it. He/she should fulfill this criteria without a break in the education so that the interim years are not lost. Higher the qualific

My experiences are based on my native State. The preparation varies, depending on the category of Reservation. In the open category, there is a neck -to-neck competition and sometimes, for an ordinary teacher's job,the preparation crosses all bounds. So,I conclude that the aspirants can not take any chances and they are bound to go beyond all levels. It is not just a piecemeal preparation. Most youngsters go into depths.Even among the reserved categories,it is getting tougher.

Generally, there is a feeling that it is easy doing a Government job and it may be correct also.Sometimes, the salary may not be high. But,when the problem comes, the job is as tough as any other. These are the days of computerization and it gets tougher doing a Government job.It is difficult getting it.So many people with high qualifications compete. The job notification comes rarely.
