Admission to the MBA programme at Guwahati University is solely determined by a student's merit, both as an undergraduate and as a result of their performance on the national and university entrance exams. The university administers its own admissions exam. However, individuals who have passed national entrance exams, such as CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT, and have a score of at least 75 percentile, are excluded from taking the exam. For final selection, candidates who pass any of the aforementioned exams must proceed via GD and PI rounds.

Gauhati University MBA admission is completely based on the merit scores obtained by students in the university/national-level entrance exam along with their merit at the undergraduate level. The university conducts its own entrance exam for admission.
