Hello Shashan, Ophthalmology is the branch of medical science concerning the anatomy, physiology and diseases of human eyes. A professional in the field with a degree in ophthalmology courses is called as an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmology courses equip the candidate with the ability to conduct surgery for correcting the errors of the eyes. So, an ophthalmologist can act as a physician as well as a surgeon.
