The admission process for the majority of MBA colleges in India begins around July–August and ends around November. The process typically includes:
Entrance exams: The CAT, MAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, IIFT, MAH CET, and IBSAT are some of the top MBA entrance exams in India.
- Group discussions
- Written ability tests
- Personal interviews
- Previous academic records
The final selection is based on the candidate's performance in all three phases. For example, IIMA selection is based on a candidate's "Final Composite Score's (FCS)" which is determined by two stages of shortlisted candidates for each category.
While CAT and CMAT are widely recognised entrance exams, they are not the only options for MBA aspirants. Many other MBA admission tests, such as XAT, are considered equivalent to CAT. However, some prestigious MBA schools offer direct MBA admissions without the CAT exam.
