Candidates must fulfill the qualifying requirements in order to be admitted to IIT Bombay's PhD programme. For candidates to be qualified for the programme, they must hold a valid master's degree. To complete the online application, qualified students can visit the official website.

Merit-based admission to PhD programmes is determined by scores on the GATE, CSIR NET, CEED, UGC NET, and written tests, which are followed by interviews. Exam results are used to select the candidates, and performance during the interview phase is used to assign seats.
