    Offered in regular mode with institute assistantship, individual fellowship, sponsored and for working professionals, admission to PhD programme is recommended by the Departmental Academic Committee based on the overall academic performance of the candidates and written test followed by the interview. Candidates must complete a master’s degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate in Engineering/ Science/ Commerce/ Management/ Law and/ or equivalent to apply for PhD courses. All candidates seeking admission to the PhD must check out the below table for more information on PhD admission at IIT Khagargpur:

    Eligibility

    - Minimum 60% aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale in the qualifying examination in Engineering/ Science/ Commerce/ Management/ Law and/ or equivalent

    - or a minimum 55% aggregate or a CGPA of 6.0 on 10 point scale in the qualifying examination in Humanities/ Social Science/ MBBS degree and/ or equivalent

    - Students who possess the minimum prescribed qualifications (without GATEUGC NET) and are in service in any of the following establishments with a minimum of two years of job experience are eligible for admission to the PhD as sponsored candidates
