    Selection to PhD at Allahabad University is offered on the basis of one among CRET/ UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE exams In addition to these entrances, students must have completed their UG and PG degrees in the relevant stream with at least 55% aggregate. The CRET exam conducted for PhD admission consists of two papers of a total of 300 marks. This exam is conducted for 43 subjects with 734 seats out of which 316 seats are department/centres of the university and the remaining 418 seats are for the constituent colleges of the university.

Wherein, M.Tech. in Materials Science and Technology was the easiest specialisation with a cutoff score of 54 and MA in Painting, the toughest to secure with a cutoff of 246.
