How can I prepare for IAS? Which books should I study?

    Hello Gaurav, go through the syllabus once and you will get basic ideas from where to start. NCERT books of class 1-10 are helpful for beginners, for maths and reasoning R.S Agrawal's book is best. It's good to see that you are too young and taking interest in civil services, I would suggest you to take B.com LLB for your graduation course, however it totally depends upon your interest. Also join coaching in 2nd year of your graduation but not before that because it will affect your academic career. All the very best

    Hi,
    For IAS, you have to purchase NCERT books for 6th to 10th class of social science, means history, civics and geography.
    You should read newspaper daily like Times of India, Economics Times.
    Remember, in IAS, whether it is pre or mains, questions never repeat and you can't predict from which section a particular question may be asked. In IAS 2016, 95% current affair's questions came. So, you have to study at least 14 hours.

    Hello Gaurav,
    Before taking admission in any institute you can also start preparing it by yourself by purchasing the study materials, magazines, be regular updated about current affairs, get monthly magazines etc.
    If you will be earlier updated about all these stuffs it will be more easier for you to crack IAS examination.
    There are few institutes which will provide you the required materials, monthly magazines, mock tests papers etc.

    First of all congrats for selecting IAS as a career.First, concentrate on completing your graduation. Select a good optional for preparation. Start with a newspaper. It will help you to gain momentum. Follow NCERT books of all subjects. It will clear your basics. Give some time to revision. After this start reading standard books and answer writing is a must. Take test series to evaluate your preparation. Believe in yourself and your preparation. You can do it.

    Firstly, start reading NCERT books from class 6th to class 12th, and then for polity M Laxmikant economics Rakesh Singh geography Majid Husain art and culture Nitin Singhania modern history spectrum.
