    Study hard.
    Firstly, clear your all basic concepts of all the subjects. Practice extensively. Try to solve all type of questions based on the topics. Application based questions are also important. Listen to your teachers and what they tell. Don't bother to ask any Queries to your teacher. Time management plays an important role in scoring good marks. Make your strong subject stronger and weak subject good. Make a study Plan. For a good NIT, you will need to score 200-250 to get good NIT and branch of your choice. As you said you belong to general category. So, you need to work hard and work smartly as well. Don't get low if you score

    First of all, for every chapter, go through, precisely, the previous year's JEE Mains questions. It will give you an idea. And many questions will clear your misconceptions.
