First, your thinking and confidence is very nice for cracking entrance examinations because a very few students have confidence that they will able to crack JEE Mains and Advance at home level study but self-study is more and more profitable as comparing coaching level study. But you should away from many distractions like television and others at home. Your focus and do hard work to qualify JEE then you surely get success. Top rankers in any exam do self-study, but you take guidance from old papers and any JEE qualifiers. JEE Mains syllabus is from NCERT and for JEE Advanced, you can take material from any past JEE qualifiers.

First clear all your basics of class XI-XII. You should have a good grasp of all the concepts of XI-XII. I would suggest to enroll for a test series of any coaching centre as it will enhance your problem solving skills for JEE.
    Good luck.

First of all for JEE, it is very important to go through the previous year JEE questions which will give you an idea. And it will also clear your misconceptions.
    Good luck.
