WAT is designed to substitute Group discussions. Many times because of some unwanted elements in the groups, a lot of people can not speak their mind freely. Hence to evaluate everyone on a similar scale WAT was introduced. And this has worked really well for everyone as there is no artificial pressure and everyone is judged on clarity of thought and not on just presentation alone. No, there is no need for reading novels for just this purpose as most often, the topic is so general that anyone can write about that. More than reading novels, i would recommend that you should focus on general awareness, news and current affairs. -
