You can take admission in HBTU on the basis of your JEE Mains rank and the university will conduct their own counseling on the basis of your JEE Mains rank because HBTU is not a part of UPTU since 2016. -
You can take admission in HBTU by UPSEE and it's entrance exam too. HBTU also conducts it's entrance exam. But, you need to score a good marks to take a seat in HBTU. -

Firstly, you should know that HBTU is an independent university and no longer a part of UPTU since 2016. For 2017, it took admission through UPSEE and IIT-JEE due to lack of preparation, I guess.
