University of California Los Angeles was established in the year 1881 as a public land-grant research university located in Los Angeles, California, United States. UCLA was known to be a normal school named as the California State Normal School which later turned into San Jose State University.

Early History (1881-1936)

The California State Legislature had created a southern branch campus of the California State Normal School in March 1881.
