Career or profession remain with us throughout our lives, so the decision of choosing one is very important and needs a careful deliberation and exhaustive process to narrow down to the right choice.
Some major factors which govern this decision are:
Interest : A lot has been written and made in interest. The two major things while dealing with interests are:
Interest keeps on changing as per your situations.
You need to narrow down to interests which can be monetized or commercialized.

Career decisions are mostly driven by pay cheque aspirations and in the rat race by the time we realize what we wanted, we become too old to take risks.
