How different is computer science branch from IT branch? Is there any difference in job roles?

Computer science the study of automating algorithmic processes that scale. A computer scientist specializes in the theory of computation and the design of computational systems. Indian universities award computer science graduation degree in B.Tech computer science/ CE or CSE. Computer Science (computer science) is a study of the theory, applications of engineering principle for the design and use of computers based systems. Computer engineering (CE) deals with design, implementation, and management of software & hardware based information system and electronics systems to automate processes. A B.Tech CSE graduate specializes in the theory of computation and design of computational systems. CSE graduates are trained to integrate several disciplines such as Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Software Design, etc. The CSE graduates are mainly involved in the development of software and hardware systems of various aspects of computing for products, systems and information systems. B.Tech IT degree has a major focus on computers and technology, it differs from a computer science degree in that students are also expected to study management and information science, and there are reduced requirements for mathematics and theory of computation. There is only a subtle difference between syllabus of computer science/ CE/CSE and IT. IT Industry accepts all three to start a career as a software developer. In engineering entrance examination, computer science branch closes at a higher rank in comparison to IT. Therefore in campus placement computer science graduates have an edge over IT graduates. IT product companies prefer computer science graduates over IT graduates. But there is no difference between computer science and IT for ADM firms.
