Admission to NDA Pune is entirely based on candidates' performance in the NDA entrance exams, making it comparatively tougher than many other colleges. In addition, the NDA exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). National Defence Academy Pune, offers limited seats in the BTech programme. So, the competition is tough, however, the NDA exam just needs aspirants to be smart and hard-working to cover English, GK, Maths and Science Subjects in the required time period.

A extremely tough screening process makes it particularly difficult to get admission to the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune for a B.Tech. Before being considered for admission, candidates must pass the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination, which evaluates their general ability and mathematical skills. Interviews with the Service Selection Board (SSB) assess candidates' general aptitude, leadership abilities, and physical and psychological fitness after the written exam. You cannot join NDA (at Khadakwasla, Pune) immediately after 10th. UPSC clearly requires you to have passed or be appearing in 12th grade (ages 16.5–19.5) for eligibility — 10th completion is not enough.

Bottom line: You must first complete Class 12 (preferably with PCM if aiming for Air Force/Naval wings), meet the age criteria, then apply via the UPSC NDA exam.

The expected cutoff for this year is around 710-720 marks out of 1800 for final selection. For last 5 years the cutoff is as:

  • 2022: 343-355
  • 2021: 355
  • 2020: 355
  • 2019: 342-346
  • 2018: 338-325
  • 2017: 342-258

Thats for some previous year cut off but sources indicate that this year's cutoff is expected to be more than 720 in the final selection. Best of luck !

Yes, you are eligible for the NDA 1 exam in 2026. Candidates born between 2nd July 2007 and 1st July 2010 can apply, and being in the SC category does not affect your eligibility.

No, candidates are not allowed to get admission into BTech courses at NDA Pune without the NDA entrance exam. NDA Pune BTech admissions are done on the basis of valid scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam conducted by UPSC. Even, the institute does not accept any other competitive exam scores for BTech admission, except NDA.
