    Preparing for NET especially English literature is no cakewalk. There's simply a lot to cover, syllabus wise. So here are a few books that'll help you. British literature (this covers most of the syllabus, so you want to be thorough with this part) - start with A Critical History of English Literature vol 1 and 2 by David Daiches and Routledge's History of English Literature. Indian English Literature - A History of English Literature by M K Naik and Indian Writing in English by K R Srinivasa Iyengar.
