The eligibility criteria for B.Tech admission differ based on the college and the entrance exam you are applying for. However, some of the most typical needs are:
- You must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognised board.
- You must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% to 75% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination, depending on the college and the entrance exam.
- You must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- You must be between 17 to 25 years of age as on December 31 of the year of admission.
The entrance exams for B.Tech admission are conducted by various national and state-level authorities to test your aptitude and knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. Some of the popular entrance exams for B.Tech admission are:
- JEE Main: This is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to B.Tech courses in IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other participating institutes. The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech courses and Paper 2 for B.Arch/B.Planning courses. The exam is held twice a year: in February-March and April-May.
- JEE Advanced: This is a national-level entrance exam conducted by one of the IITs every year for admission to B.Tech courses in IITs only. The exam is held once a year: in May-June.
