The Indian Railway Service of Engineers salary is as per the recommendation of the seventh pay commission. The salary of an IRSE officer recruited through ESE increases through promotion as follows:
    1. At first posting, an IRSE officer's salary is as per the Junior Time Scale. At this scale, the pay band is between Rs. 15600 and Rs. 39100, and the grade pay is fixed at 5400.
    2. After promotion to the senior time scale, the grade pay is increased to Rs. 6600.
    3. With further promotion, the grade pay also increases to Rs. 7600.
    4. Finally after third promotion to Non-Functional Selection Grade the salary band increases to Rs.37400 to Rs.
