How good are the agriculture courses from LPU?

Being a student of LPU, I think I can provide you with an honest opinion. Though I'm not pursuing my B.Sc. In agriculture, I do have my friends who are pursuing the same. LPU School of Agriculture is among Punjab and India's Best Agriculture colleges. LPU Becomes the First Private University to be Granted ICAR Accreditation By the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. It lays thrust on carrying out research in agricultural and allied fields. The university has well-equipped laboratories, library, lecture rooms and excellent farm facility to conduct agricultural experiments. Students are prepared at academics level to achieve higher placements, some steps are taken as follows: 1. Experiential Learning Activities The future of agriculture lies with a faith born of deeds. Students are engaged in evergreen agriculture, keeping in view the RAWE programme to build interpersonal skills. 2. Exposure To Commercial Farms Students are exposed to Commercial farms to get know-how that creates an opportunity for students to engage and tone up their endurance, confidence and management skills. 3. Innovative Pedagogy And Curriculum Emphasis on case studies and inter-personal based teaching to develop skills in analytical thinking and reflective judgment by reading and discussing complex, real-life scenarios. Students Innovate a drone which can be guided by remote control can be used on agriculture land to analyze the soil nutrient status and water stress is an innovation by LPU students to simplify the farming experience. LPU students have got top packages from leading Agriculture companies. Students of School of Agriculture are placed in Dhanuka, HDFC Bank, Reliance retail, Syngenta, Bio SEED Nestle, Smur Agro, VLCC, Virbac, Amazon, Sanra organics and many more. Student of Lovely Professional University, Kavita Faman, a final year student of M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy), has bagged a package of Rs 1 crore. The package has been offered by Monsanto, global leaders in agrochemicals and now part of the crop sciences division of the Bayer Group. Students of Agriculture and Forestry had a research stay and an edu-excursion Camp at TERI University New Delhi. Hello Virat, I have spent 4 years in lpu for my studies and I have seen that the agriculture department is one of the finest departments. Well-equipped and well grown from the last couple of years. Moreover, LPU is the first private university got ICAR approval. LPU holds a stellar record in placements as big brands like VLCC Healthcare Ltd. , Ankur Seeds, HDFC, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. , Ebro India Pvt. Ltd. , etc. Have visited for campus recruitment at packages upto 4.5 LPA. In addition to this, students can attain positions as Agriculture Inspectors, Agriculture Officers, POs, Food Quality Inspectors, Agriculture Development Officer, Horticulture Development Officer, Technical Assistants and administrative posts in government and non-government organizations. Over and above, I also came to know that recently, LPU has been ranked in top 80 amongst all private and government institutes by NIRF, MHRD, GOI which shows the quality being delivered at the institute.

Being an alumni of LPU I would rather say that the school of Agriculture in Lovely Professional University is among the best place for pursuing the B.Sc. In agriculture. Now you would be saying why I am saying like that, actually my cousin has completed his degree from here only. The most significant thing which should be emphasized is that LPU is the first private university which has been approved by ICAR. I along with my cousins had visited the fields, labs. In order to infuse understanding on emerging problems and technologies involved in agriculture field visits are conducted to neighboring farms, orchards and nurseries. Not only subject related education is imparted but also the professional enhancement is added by the university through the different courses like soft skills and communication skills. Major Highlights of the programme that I would be highlighting over here are as follows: a)The course would impart knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and techniques of maintaining and enhancing soil fertility, crop production, crop management, crop improvement, biodiversity and sustainability of agriculture worldwide. (Genetics & Plant Breeding), M.Sc. Ag. (Entomology), M.Sc. Ag. (Plant Pathology), M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Vegetable Science), M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Fruit Science), M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Floriculture and Landscaping). Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam) Pass with 60% aggregate marks in B.Sc. Agriculture or B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons. ). (4 years) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPU NEST. Admission Criteria Merit in qualifying examination, subject to eligibility criteria. It is pretty good, in fact, if you are looking for private colleges for agriculture courses, LPU is one of the best. LPU was the 1st private university to be granted ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) accreditation. The university has well-equipped laboratories, libraries, lecture rooms, and excellent farm facility to conduct agricultural experiments. Students learn about the latest advancements in the field of agriculture, disease resistance, fertilizers and, insecticides with extensive fieldwork and field trips preparing them for the evergreen field of agriculture. The students from LPU are recruited by leading Agriculture companies. Students of the School of Agriculture are placed in Dhanuka, HDFC Bank, Reliance retail, Syngenta, Bio SEED Nestle, Smur Agro, VLCC, Virbac, Amazon, Sanra organics, and many more. And as far as academics are concerned, priority is given to experimental learning activities, learning from exposure to commercial farms, etc. Basically, LPU focuses more on Innovative teaching and learning, rather than the old conventional method. LPU also gives priority to research and entrepreneurship, to frame students not just as job seekers but job providers as well.
