The NIHFW is India's main autonomous body instituted in 1977 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a technical school and think tank for public health and family welfare programs. Education, training, research, and consultancy have been highlighted activities by NIHFW across the different health sectors. Its vision features policy promotion for global health and the development of "Health for All" in India. The institute excels as a contributing institution to public health management and still seeks to improve its stature in the field.
