    NIT Puducherry is an autonomous institution established by government of India in 2009. Its overall rating is 3.4 out of 5. In 2022 NIT Puducherry ranked 136th amongst the engineering colleges in India and 128th in 2023 by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). It is also among the 31 NIts recognised by the government of India as institute of National important. Thus, its ranking is very good.

Yes, your chances of getting into NIT Puducherry with a JEE Main Cutoff 2025 rank of 40000 are favourable if you belong to the OBC HS quota. For the OBC HS category, the cutoff rank ranged from 120407 to 424690, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the toughest and B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, the easiest. 

However, if you belong to the  OBC AI category, while BTech CSE and ECE would be tough to get admission in, other branches such as B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, etc., might be easier to get admitted to. NIT Puducherry MSc cutoff 2025 ranged from 1474 to 1690 during the last round for the General AI category. As per the last round cutoff for MSc specialisations, M.Sc. in Chemistry was the toughest to get admission to. For other specialisations and their cutoff, please refer to the table below.

To get a seat at NIT Puducherry, one would need to secure a CCMN 2025 rank of at least 1690 or lower if they belong to the General AI category to qualify for admission for various MSc specialisations. For the General AI quota, the MSc specialisations rank was from 1172 to 1345, wherein M.Sc. in Mathematics was the most competitive, followed by M.Sc. in Chemistry, during the first round.
