Mainly because of the following reasons:<br>Entrance Exam Requirement<br>MHT CET and JEE Main: Admission through scores achieved in MHT CET or JEE Main. Students can get admission only when they score well enough; this is more so for popular branches.<br>Cutoff Ranks<br>Cut-Off Percent/Branch Wise: The cut-offs are highly erratic as well by branch. Computer Engineering typically has more cut-offs than other streams like Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Looking at past year cut-offs it seems that the student has to rank among the top 70,000 to 90,000 to get into a branch.<br>Eligibility<br>Minimum Marks: They must have attained a minimum of 45 per cent in 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. This ensures entry of only students with a strong academic base.<br>General Competition<br>Demand of Popular Specializations: In some specializations, the demand is more, and therefore relatively more competitive. For such students, achieving good scores will be almost a passport to attain admission in reputed colleges.</p>
