Getting admission into the Institute of Business Management and Rural Development (IBMRD) is considered moderately difficult as it depends on your performance in the entrance exams conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) for admission to Savitribai Phule Pune University, along with meeting the eligibility criteria and cut-off marks set by the institute; however, compared to some top-tier management colleges, the competition might be less intense.

Admission to the Institute of Business Management and Rural Development (IMBRD) depends on fulfilling the eligibility criteria and selection procedure by the chosen program. On an average, admission is highly competitive, since the institute looks for candidates who have a very good academic record and apt entrance test scores wherever necessary. In programs like MBA, scores obtained in CAT, MAT, or any equivalent tests and personal interviews form important parts. However, the ease or difficulty levels may differ depending on the programme and the number of applicants that enter each year.
