How important is academic background and research papers in seeking admission abroad? I want to take GRE.
I am a mechanical engineer graduate with 66% aggregate marks, I don't have a strong academic background and no research papers.

Please remember the basic eligibility for GRE is that all aspirants can take up this exam irrespective of the academic qualification.
The exam is mainly conducted for admission into masters level as well as doctoral programs.
