How is a career in pure science research different from a medicinal career? What are the pros and cons of both?

I am equally interested in both pure sciences research and medicinal fields. I have also been selected for a research career through KVPY and have given the medical entrances and expecting a good selectable score.

    Pure Science, be it natural, physical or mathematical is the backbone for research and development. There has been a wide opportunity offered in education and career. Excellent undergraduate and integrated (undergraduate + Masters) courses in various streams of Science are offered by very prestigious and established educational institutions in India, such as IITs, NITs, BITS, IISc, IISERs, to name a few.
    Graduates in Pure Science have multiple options:
    After the completion of the course, one can go for higher studies
