How is air ticketing different from general ticketing? What is the scope of this filed?

Air Ticketing- this is the actual purchase/issuing of a ticket for a mode of travel. A lot of airlines have their offshore ticketing offices, where immediate purchases can be made by passengers. These counters are also available at the airport and such jobs are offered directly through the respective airlines as ground staff. Ticketing would also require knowledge of certain software for the process. So, both have similar career prospects depending on the path you choose. Airline ticketing agents located at the airports are not responsible for the ticketing only, but ticket agents work directly with passengers, airlines like to see a customer service and/or sales background along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic typing and computer skills, and ability to perform basic mathematics. Ticket agents must have the ability to work without close supervision, and have a general knowledge of geography. Cash handling and credit card transaction experience is helpful. Foreign language skills may be required. General ticketing could include the simple job of booking tickets for other modes of transport including rail, bus, cruise etc. Air ticketing will definitely be more preferred as it has added responsibilities to the profile and better pay packages.
