    If you really like to do something very nice in the field of automobile do prefer it over petroleum and chemical engineering. Its upon your interest. Petroleum and chemical engineering would be preffered in middle east countries.

    Automobile is a booming industry in developing countries like India.These companies prefer an automobile engineer over a mechanical engineering bcoz of his specialisation.U could be a designer and earn handsome amount of money while staying in our country.even if u have a slight interest in automobiles,i would suggest u to go for it man :)
