How is college life at Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai Campus?

    According to a few students, there is no life in college, as you feel totally alienated. Lots of restrictions and rules along with academic downfalls all add up to depression. Unless you find your troops it's really hard to survive here. You will not be allowed to go out or out of your hostel post 9 pm. Heavy academic schedules, classes, and assignments add a lot of pressure. If you are an above-average student like me (80 - 90%) in schooling you will find backlogs quite common. Your 90 marks will suddenly turn out to be 45 which brings a lot of happiness to your face. But ultimately your placement is guaranteed. If you are a social pe

    I found the life here to be prison-like. The First year students have a LOT of restrictions. There is no way in * the security guards will let you go outside the campus during the weekdays. If you're planning to spend weekends/holidays in the hostel, you have to fill up a special form and they call up your parents to let you go out for a maximum of 34 hours (there is an exception to this when your exams are going on). Now if you want to stay outside the hostel overnight, you have to get a leave application approved in advance by your proctor.
