6 years agoIIST - the fact that most of its students are eventually absorbed in ISRO. So, whats most important is to choose an institute which provides you a wide range of career options. It immensely increases your chances to succeed as an young undergrad. To be very frank, you won't be having much career choices if you choose to join IIST. IIT Dhanbad is doing great among the new ones. Please do not get demotivated by its location. People often comment without even knowing the inside story. I can fairly assure you that you would be having a whole lot of exciting career opportunities here in IIT Dhanbad. Rest is your decision.

You can get into the BTech courses offered by IIT (ISM) Dhanbad through JEE Mains. However, JEE Mains isn't enough. One must clear JEE Advanced to get into any of the IITs. The same applies to the IIT Dhanbad admissions as well. To summarise:
IIT Dhanbad BTech Admission = Clearing JEE Mains + JEE Advanced + Participating in JoSAA counselling for seat allotment.
