How is it that they are more male chefs as compared to female chefs, whereas the household kitchen is dominated by women.

Hi,
Since, the gender ratio in India is 943 females per 1000 males according to 2011 census, you will definitely find more male employees than female employees in every sector of the economy including hospitality industry.

Cooking at home for family members is way different from cooking bulk food for hundreds and hundreds of customers. When you cook at home, it would usually require a few pounds of food materials whereas bulk cooking requires hundreds of pounds worth of groceries to be cooked.

This is a very good question. Yes, it is true that the women take lead role in household kitchen, but they are not the leaders in hotels. There are various reasons for that. At home, it is more of a compulsion than choice. I would like to raise a question here in this forum to all the ladies, given
