If you are willing to put in some extra effort, study further and work in a core job, then it is totally worth it. The courses taught are not purely metallurgy based, i.e a healthy amount of materials Science is taught as well, such as polymers etc. The department has enthusiastic professors, and more will be joining soon. They are quite helpful and willing to involve undergraduates in research and seniors are always there to guide you appropriately.
