How is SIES for PGDM? Is it worth joining?

SIESCOMS is an above average college and not only with respect to Mumbai region but also with respect to all the colleges in India. The average package offered last year was about Rs. 6.7 LPA, to Rs. 4.5 LPA being the lowest and Rs. 14 LPA being the highest. The college has achieved 100% placements last year. The data is comparable with respect to many colleges in India. The fee for MMS course (Mumbai University MBA course) was Rs. 4 Lacs last year while the fee for PGDM was Rs. 6.8 Lacs last year for both the years. The college definitely falls under top 10 colleges of Maharashtra. Good luck!

Yes, it is SIES is a unique institute. It's unique because it doesn't market itself like others do and is traditionally deeply rooted (it has a huge temple right inside the campus). Trust is so rich that money is never a consideration for them to run this institute. Now coming to specific points: 1. It's a very old institute hence has an early mover advantage. 2. The faculty is quite experienced. 3. There are some very loyal companies visiting the campus year after year. 4. Studies are always on priority rather than "glamour" as seen in other institutes. 5. Location of the institute is a problem. Visiting faculty (which is a must) hence finds it difficult to come on a regular basis. But SIES do manage somehow to arrange some. However, I feel had the institute been located close to city, more visiting faculty members (experienced ones) would have come to the college. 6. Placements do occur. Good packages are offered. Till 2013, the batch size of MMS was only 60. But from 2014 onward they doubled the batch size, hence I am not sure about placements stats from 2014 onwards. You need to check on your own. In management colleges, you learn more on your own and from peers rather than from the college. College only provides the means and direction. I was lucky to have excellent and diverse batchmates from whom I learned alot. I learned more in these 2 years in SIES as compared to my previous years of studies. So, if you want to do MBA in Mumbai and don't get admission in top 4 colleges (JBIMS, Sydenham, Wellingkar and Somaiya), this is the best bet.
