    Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was established on 1st May 1948 through the merger of several defence medical units on the initiative of the BC Roy Committee. Presently, it is counted amongst India's premier medical institutions and holds the status of a centre of excellence for education and research. Situated in Pune, the college is administered by the country's armed forces.
