In today's time, the scope of astronomy in India is very good but not so vast as like in foreign countries and it takes at least eight to nine years to complete the course and you have to do Ph.D also. But if you have interest in this, I would advice you go for it even I want to do Ph.D in astronomy. Astronomy's scope is currently increasing in India so in five to six years this will gonna be a very big network. If you want to do it in less time, I will suggest you do it abroad as it takes less time.
