How is the English department of NEHU?

The Department of English, NEHU, Shillong was established in 1973. The faculty consists of writers, poets and critics who have been contributing to various genres of English Studies, Creative Writing and Performance and some are also engaged with different projects. Students and Research Scholars of the Department are engaged with Seminars, publication of magazines and Creative Writing. The thrust areas of research are, New Literatures in English particularly South Asian Diasporic Fiction in English; Literature in English and in Translation from North-East India; Comparative Literature constituting various literatures in translation; Theories of Gender and Culture Studies, Ethnic and Cultural Studies and Theatre, with special focus on the theatre traditions of Europe, America and India in general and North East India in particular.
