How is the IELTS Writing test marked?

<p data-sourcepos="1:1-1:253">IELTS Writing tests are marked by highly trained and monitored examiners, regardless of where the test is taken. At least two examiners will mark your Writing test, and sometimes up to three or four, to ensure the highest level of accuracy and fairness. Your Writing test response is scored in four areas:</p><ol><li>Task response:&nbsp;How well you have fulfilled the task requirements.</li><li>Coherence and cohesion:&nbsp;How well your writing is organized and connected.</li><li>Lexical resource:&nbsp;How varied and appropriate your vocabulary is.</li><li>Grammatical range and accuracy:&nbsp;How well you use grammar and punctuation.</li></ol><p>Each criterion is worth 25% of your total mark for that task. The examiner will give you a band score for Writing Task 1 and a band score for Writing Task 2. Then, your final IELTS Writing band score is calculated.</p>
