How is the IIT Roorkee?

Established in 1847, the Indian Institute of Technology is an open engineering college which is associated with the UGC. It is known to be the oldest technological institute in Asia. In 1949, it was granted the university status. The college is the seventh IIT institution among the IIT Group of Institutions. Earlier, it was named the College of Civil Engineering. In 2001, it was renamed to its current name. The Department of Civil Engineering at the institute is known as the oldest engineering department in India. In 1897, the Department of Electrical Engineering was developed. Presently, the university features four departments. The university campus is spread over an area of 25 acres. It also has another campus in Greater Noida which was opened in 2011.

IIT Roorkee is the oldest technical institution in Asia ( Earlier named as College of Civil engineering. At Roorkee followed by Thomason college of Civil engineering. ). Built in 1847. There are many factors which one should take into account while judging any college.
