How is the life of an IAS officer? Is it better than the life of a person working in the private sector?

First of all we must look at the responsibilities of an IAS officer.Much of the work is administrative in nature and involves planning, resource management, policy formulation, implementation of policies and programmes, supervision and monitoring. Not to forget that with current downturn in economy there aren't many high paying opportunities available for MBA graduates currently. Still a degree from coveted institutes like IIM's or XLRI open plethora of job opportunities. In less than a decade you can be a CEO of a big multinational company.
