The mess food is quite decent and it depends on the hostel in which you are living. The food sometimes is quite nutritionless, tasteless and stinky but it is very rare. The variations are less and authorities don't care about these matters. Chapati, Dal and 2 vegetables - aalo and pyaaz is mostly the recipe. You also get breakfast, lunch and dinner. In breakfast, you get biscuit, milk and tea. In Dinner and Lunch, menu is similar just the vegetable changes. Pav bhaji is not at all eatable and it is nutritionless and caloriless food.
