How is the mess food at Tezpur University?

The food is edible like any other institute you won't find the food to be like your home, but it is also not that bad. The mess is managed by the students only. Every hostel has their admin body which also consists of mess manager and mess convener who looks after the affairs of the mess. The monthly mess fees varies from hostel to hostel but it is always between 2300-2500. Students get food 3 times I. e Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Veg and Non Veg both options are available in every hostel. In nonveg students get Chicken, Egg Curry and Fish and in veg its mostly Paneer, Rajma or Soyabean. The mess menu gets changed every month. At the end of every month, hostel gives Mess Endings which means good and delicious food. The menu of food completely depends upon Hostel to Hostel so there isn't any common menu, but the food generally consists of seasonal vegetables dal and rice in afternoon and in dinner veg and non veg are served. Also most people eat here rice so the students from other states who eat roti have to pay a minimum extra amount for that.

The mess is being run by the admin body of the particular hostels and the body contains the students of the particular hostels selected by the warden after taking the interviews. It shows that the mess is being run by eligible students and the menu is selected by the whole body after discussing with the fellow boarders and the mess fees also depends upon the menu. And in our hostel it is around 2300 rs. Every week there is chicken, fish, paneer, egs etc. And there are particularly separate corner for pure veg students in every hostels. And annually there is a grand feast in every hostels and monthly there are mess endings for the students to enjoy food and not to get board with the weekly menu.
