The Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences is an autonomous institute. It is affiliated with Mumbai University. The students studying in undergraduate courses are selected through the NEST also used by the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar. The institute at present has 4 departments which are Physics Mathematics, Chemical Sciences, and Life Sciences.
