How is the reputation of the Mathematics department at IIT Gandhinagar when compared with that of IIT Ropar?

Both are very good options. But in terms of placement infrastructure, internship etc. IIT Ropar is the best option. IIT Gandhinagar: 1. Average package is around 17 Lacs, but it varies every year. And the college fees is worth it. Because the campus and hostel are very clean. And the highlight is IITGN is rated India's first 5-star GRIHA LD (Green) campus for minimizing the negative impact on the environment. Excellent hostel facilities with air conditioner and furnished room etc. 2. The top recruiters of IIT Gandhinagar in included Microsoft, Google, Amazon, HCL, IBM, TCS, etc. Placement percentage was 92% 3. Research area in mathematics: Algebraic Geometry, Non-commutative Geometry, Analytic Number Theory, Algebraic Number Theory, Arithmetic Geometry, Combinatorics, Control theory, Commutative Algebra Operator Algebras, Quantum Groups, Differential Equations Graph Theory, Group Theory, Nonlinear Analysis and Optimization, Probability theory, IIT Ropar: 1. The average package is 18 Lacs. But it's also worth it. Because it had a very good infrastructure. There are 3 hostels for boys and one for girls. There is a separate air-conditioned mess also. The hostels are well-equipped for comfortable lodging and boarding of approximately 380 students. 2. The average package offered was INR 18.80 LPA and INR 18 LPA during IIT Ropar placements 2022, respectively. A total of 252 students were placed and 100% placement rate was recorded during placements 2022. The average package of IIT Ropar mathematics and computing is 30 LPA.
