The University of Canterbury is a top-ranking university in New Zealand as well as on a global level. In QS World University Rankings 2024, UC has obtained the rank #256 in World University Rankings and in 2025, it is placed at #261. According to the another top-ranking publisher in 2024, the University of Canterbury stands at #466 in Best Global Universities, #30 in Best Global Universities in Australia/New Zealand. In the 2024 edition, Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked UC in the range #501-600 in World University Rankings.
