Seats of preparatory courses in IITs vary from year to year and are done on the number of vacant reserved category seats remaining after general admissions. The preparatory courses aim at serving SC, ST and PwD applicants who could not reach the marks qualifying them but who have a promise. There are no specified number of seats in the preparatory course but will depend on available vacancies every year.
