How many attempts are needed for cracking bank P.O exam?

There are candidates who clear Bank PO examination in first attempt itself. However, there are limits on maximum attempts criterion in different banks. For example in SBI PO maximum 4 attempts as allowed for General category candidate.

I am of the opinion that one odd year of drop is generally condoned by recruiters.
