    There are around 419 PhD colleges in India, out of which approximately 284 are private, 98 fall under government jurisdiction, and 17 are public-private. Some popular private PhD colleges in India include VIT Vellore, Thapar University, Chandigarh University, BITS Pilani, LPU, and Amity University (Noida).

    Talking about the govt. PhD colleges, some popular student choices include the IITs and NITs, Delhi Technological University, Anna University, ICT Mumbai, Netaji Subhas University of Technology, and IIEST Shibpur.
