Typically, 3-4 months with full dedication and devotion is enough to get good scores in GMAT.

Preparing for GMAT require lot of time. It depends on your learning power or on your skill. Average GMAT students can expect to study for 2-3months while the topper of GMAT study for 6months. It also depends on how you set your goals, making goals and achieve it on the time is the best key.
