    No questions are technically 'mandatory' in XAT, but there's a crucial catch. You get penalized with negative marking if you leave more than 8 questions unattempted across the main sections (Verbal, DM, and Quant).

    There is no minimum number of questions to be solved in XAT. There are 95 questions in the question paper and candidates can attempt whichever question they think they solve. There is negative marking in XAT so candidates must not fall in the trap of solving maximum questions.

    However, to score well in XAT, one should aim for solving nearly 2/3rd of the total questions asked in every question. For example, if the Decision Making section has 21 questions, candidate must attempt about 14-15 questions.
