Yes, the university offers good accommodation facilities for international students. Currently, seventeen dorms offer more than 18,500 rooms for students. It is best for students to apply for accommodation as soon as possible because the university allocates housing on a first-come-first-served basis.
Accommodation Details
Goethe University mainly provides two types of accommodation to international students. The details of the accommodation facilities offered by the university are:
1. Flat Shares
In flat shares, students share an apartment where they get independent rooms while sharing a kitchen and bathroom with other students. Flat shares are relatively cheap, starting at 300 euros based on size, facilities, and area.
2. Rental Apartments
In rental apartments, students get an entire apartment to themselves, including a kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, utilities such as water and electricity are charged separately. The average cost of rental apartments is 500 euros based on the size, facilities, and area.
Accommodation Application
Students need not wait till admission confirmation. They can apply for accommodation online simultaneously while applying for admission. Goethe University offers various types of accommodation such as furnished and unfurnished one-room apartments and communal rooms for leisure activities. The rental period of university accommodation is a maximum of 4 years.
Accommodation Cost
The accommodation cost at Goethe University is between EUR 210 and EUR 500 per month based on the size and amenities and whether students select an apartment or a single room.
Please be aware that the rent that is quoted is usually just the basic rent (in German Kaltmiete). On top of this, you will have to pay utilities and charges such as heating, water etc.
